A cracked pane or a misted-up double-glazed unit is both an eyesore and a sign your windows are no longer doing their job. Misting means the seal between the panes has failed, so the unit no longer insulates as it should. Our glazing service replaces failed and broken units and panes, restoring clear glass and proper insulation without the cost of whole new windows.
We replace misted and blown double-glazed units, fit new panes in timber and UPVC frames, sort failed seals and beading, and repair window mechanisms and handles. In most cases we can keep your existing frames and simply renew the glass, which is far more economical than replacing the whole window.

Glaziers & Window Repair for Chelmsford homes
A huge number of Chelmsford homes were double-glazed twenty to thirty years ago, and those original sealed units are now reaching the age where the seals fail and the glass mists up. Replacing just the affected units — rather than the whole window — is the smart, cost-effective fix, and it is one of our most frequent jobs across the city.

Glaziers & Window Repair — your questions answered
My double glazing has misted up — can you fix it?
Yes. Misting means the unit's seal has failed. We measure and replace the sealed glass unit within your existing frame, which clears the glass and restores the insulation at a fraction of the cost of a new window.
Do I need to replace the whole window?
Rarely. If the frame is sound we simply replace the glass unit, which is far cheaper. We only suggest a full replacement when the frame itself has failed, and we will be honest about which applies.
Can you fit safety glass where it's needed?
Yes. In doors, low-level windows and other critical locations the regulations require toughened or laminated safety glass, and we supply and fit the correct grade to keep your home compliant.
